Client Download Available Now!
Submitted by _person_ on Wed, 06/09/2010 - 05:57 – No commentsThe title says it all... This release is very stripped down, there are very few maps to play on, and for now there are no skills (I may release a patch in mid-week to allow the use of spells/skills). The download can be found here.
The time has come, a little too early...
Submitted by _person_ on Tue, 06/08/2010 - 06:33 – No commentsYes, the time has come. Perhaps a bit too early, if the deadline were not tomorrow there would be many changes I would be making. There is a deficiency in maps, so hopefully I can make up for that in items that will only appear now, and making some fun enemies to slaughter.
See you then!
A slight delay...
Submitted by _person_ on Mon, 05/24/2010 - 03:35 – No commentsApologies for the inconvenience, but there will be a two-week delay on our release. This is due to the fact that a bug made all currently-existing maps nearly unusable. This forces me to re-map about 70% of all content placed so far. The client and server are almost completely stable, but a lack of content forces this delay.
Once again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
The Background Story
Submitted by _person_ on Sun, 04/18/2010 - 14:25 – No commentsThis is the background story of the Paxtenus MMORPG...
Map editor is now available for download!
Submitted by _person_ on Fri, 04/09/2010 - 07:02 – 2 commentsI have now finished v1.0 of the Paxtenus map editor. This supports most of the in-game features on maps, except for NPC's. NPC's require database access to create, and for now I wish to avoid the hassle of everyone downloading and installing MySQL, and giving away database information. Particle effects and NPC's will be handled by me, though a few pre-made particle effects are still in the existing package that you can use. Many more changes must still be made on the editor for interface cleanup.
Map editor is almost finished.
Submitted by _person_ on Sat, 03/06/2010 - 12:22 – No commentsAfter adding a great amount of coded features to the game, I have decided to start adding content. In order to create content, I felt that the map editor must be upgraded to standards which can be used by anyone, and is not so confusing and annoying. When I finish the editor, I will release it to the public and allow anyone to create maps for Paxtenus.
Project on hold
Submitted by _person_ on Wed, 11/25/2009 - 15:16 – No commentsDue to the lack of a workable interface which is required to finish most of my ideals, I am putting the project on hold until the artist that is donating our GUI gets her graphics card fixed and finishes the interface. Among my desired changes are:
- A stat window -- To raise FPS and make the client more visually appealing, I am going to move the HP/MP bars from beneath the character to an interface window.
- A targetting system -- When a player targets another player or an NPC, the target's stats will be displayed in a window. This will remove the player re-shading we currently use.
Paxtenus 0.0.2
Submitted by _person_ on Sun, 11/08/2009 - 09:19 – No commentsToday, I have backed up recent features, and added them to a more stable version of Paxtenus. Now, aftermath from my experimentation and lines of useless or bugged code are gone. I am re-working the blood system, so that it does not shift into the form of other particles.
Due to this major cleanup, Paxtenus's version is 0.0.2, and I will commit after the blood fix.
11/4/09
Submitted by _person_ on Thu, 11/05/2009 - 12:16 – No commentsGreat news!
I have finished the quest system, with the exception of some immediate cleanup, and some that can wait until after our first public alpha.
To meet the demands of my .NET capability goals, I am planning on writing the quest pre-formatter, a software for our writers to write quests, and have them translated into our server's terms, in vb.NET. It is a simple plan, so it should be done soon.
